Nick Schmidt – Offensive Coordinator, Slots & B-Backs Coach

Coach Schmidt is beginning his 5th year on the Walnut Hills Football Staff. He graduated from McNicholas High School in 2002 where he was a three-sport athlete. He played four years of football, basketball and baseball. As a three-year letterman in football he participated in the playoffs all three years finishing as Regional Runner-Up as a senior along with earning 1st Team GCL, 1st Team All-City, 1st Team Southwest Ohio, 1st Team All-State as a wide receiver and was a finalist for “That’s My Boy Award. As a three-year starter in baseball he participated in two regional finals and received all-league honors.

After high school, Coach Schmidt attended Hanover College for two years, starting both seasons in football and starting in one season of baseball. In 2007, after transferring to Xavier University, he received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. In 2005, he began coaching Varsity Football, under Steve Klonne, and he was the Head JV Baseball Coach, under Willy Corbett, at McNicholas High School. After three years as the Varsity Wide Receivers and Head JV Coach, he was named the Offensive Coordinator. In three years as Offensive Coordinator, McNicholas won two GCL Championships, a Regional Championship and had one Final Four appearance.

He currently works at Mr. Washington Elementary, while attending Grand Canyon University, pursuing a Masters Degree and Licensure in Special Education in order to become an Intervention Specialist. Coach Schmidt and his wife Casey, a dental hygienist at Bell Dental Group in Hyde Park, live in Mt. Washington with their three rescue dogs.
